About Tony
I’ve been writing about spirits since 2007 — I believe my first ever piece was about vermouth. Since then, I’ve been published in the Huffington Post, Serious Eats, Liquor.com, Robb Report, Esquire, Whisky Advocate, dekanta, Thirsty, The Whiskey Wash, Alcohol Professor, and The Bourbon Review, among others. I write a lot about whiskey (and whisky) but I’m pretty passionate about most spirits, especially rum, and try to dip a toe into as many categories as possible on a semi-regular basis. I also write about bars and cocktails from time to time, and once in a while I’ll vent about music or baseball or what have you.
In 2019 I was an inductee in the inaugural class of the Order of the Writ, an organization dedicated to Kentucky bourbon which was founded by some of the most esteemed members of the bourbon community. I’m also a member in good standing of the Bourbon Roundtable, a group of writers and industry folk which meets once or twice a year to help select batches of Booker’s Bourbon for bottling.
Before I started writing about booze, I owned a record store in New York City, but that’s another story for another time. I currently live in Manhattan with my wife, daughter, and cat.
