Don't Be A Jive Turkey — Celebrate Thanksgiving With This Pair Of Apple Brandies
Whether you’re shivering through a masked outdoor feast with the family or exulting in the blessed solitude of a pandemic-era holiday, this promises to be the weirdest Thanksgiving in memory. But that doesn’t mean you have to compromise your standards, at least not when it comes to the booze you select. And this year I’ve got two doozies for you — a pair of apple brandies, one from New England if you’re feeling traditional, and one Calvados from the colonists’ old allies, the French, with the ‘Murican twist of being rye cask-finished. Both delicious, both versatile, each one quite distinct from the other, so why not spring for both? There’s never a bad time to drink apple brandy, but this time of year is the best time of all. Check out my writeup over at Alcohol Professor — they may be a little tough to find, but they’re both worth the hunt.
If you’re celebrating with family, STAY SAFE! And if you’re celebrating by yourself, enjoy the payoff of this horrible year — at least you won’t have to litigate the presidential election with your crazy relatives. (If you’re doing the family thing on Zoom, however, 2020 is screwing you doubly, in which case you have my condolences.)
