One of the craziest nights of my life took place on a gorgeous summer’s night a few years ago courtesy of The Last Drop Distillers. The brand was launching one of its latest finds — a relatively rare occurrence in its first decade, when only one or two limited editions a year were made available. A handful of other writers and I were flown out by helicopter to a Long Island mansion straight out of The Great Gatsby, where we were treated to a multi-course dinner with wine and cocktails, followed by a seemingly endless supply of The Last Drop’s impossibly rare booze. By the time we were ready to leave, my hangover was already kicking in, and I finally had to ask Last Drop founders Rebecca Jago and Beanie Espy to stop refilling my glass with their 50-year-old Double Matured Blended Scotch Whisky, which remains to this day the best blended whisky I’ve ever tried.

That story doesn’t have anything to do with my writeup of their 2020 Autumn Collection, which is available in minuscule quantities at select finer retailers — you can check their website to find out where to get them, if you’re in the market for that sort of thing. But even if you’re not, The Last Drop’s story is an interesting one, as is the backstory of these three bottlings. So please please please, go over to Alcohol Professor and read all about ‘em.
