And Now A Word From Our Sponsors: Tequila Ocho & The Glen Grant

I neglected to take a pic of the cask from which the Glen Grant’s “Devotion” expression came, but I was there, somewhat out of view, sipping the whisky. And lemme tell you, it was pretty extraordinary. (Photo courtesy Campari/Glen Grant)

As you may have noticed if you’ve visited this site, I write both editorial pieces and sponsored content. The former consists of my views and opinions (and of course, other people’s as well if they’re quoted in an article). Sponsored, or branded, content, consists of the views of the brand as written by me, usually in an attempt to make it read like an editorial piece when it’s actually not (all sponsored content, however, is always labeled as such). Occasionally I’ll wind up writing something for both editorial and spon-con purposes, and I find it to be a fun challenge. How to make the two sound different, in tone and style? How does my voice differ from the voice the brand wants me to use? Interesting stuff, from my point of view at least.

The reason I make this point is because my spon-con piece for The Glen Grant’s new, spectacularly rare Devotion single malt is viewable at Robb Report (link is -> HERE <-) just a few weeks after my own review hit the World Wide Web via ForbesLife (you can check that out -> HERE <-). It’s always nice to write spon-con about a product I actually know and like, but there are definitely two different vibes in the articles. Of course there’s some overlap, I mean it’s the same product after all, but… well, just read them and see for yourself.

I also got to do some fun spon-con for Tequila Ocho, a brand I’ve never written about for my own purposes but which is both delicious and interesting. It’s distilled by the great Carlos Camarena, who can do no wrong with agave spirits as far as I’m concerned — his El Tesoro tequilas have been my go-tos for years. You can read the infographic (I just had to write the copy and not do the graphics, which is why it looks so good) over at VinePair, link is -> HERE <-.
