Canned & Bottled Cocktails To Fuel Your Virtual Happy Hours
There’s a difference between having good taste and being a snob. On occasion I’m guilty of both — I fear that more frequently it’s the latter. Under normal circumstances I turn my nose up at cocktails in a can, for a number of reasons. To name three:
I can make my own cocktails, thank you very much.
I’m not such a lush that I can’t wait to either get home or to a bar for a proper drink.
How good can a ready-to-drink cocktail really be?
But these, of course, aren’t normal circumstances. And suddenly RTD cocktails, as they’re known in the trade, are looking more appealing, or at least a more viable option in our current bar-less world. So when Robb Report came a-calling and asked me to write about canned and bottled cocktails, I decided to bite the bullet and learn more about the whole category.
The cocktails-in-a-can you’ll find in this article aren’t as good as the ones made fresh at bars and delivered to your home, three of which are featured in this article. But they were better than I expected them to be, in some cases a lot better. And unlike, say, the Mai Kai’s tiki drinks-to-go, which are only sold by the gallon and only if you live in the Ft. Lauderdale area, the canned jobs are available pretty much everywhere. So until we’ve got our favorite bars unshuttered and our favorite bartenders back behind the stick, here are some surprisingly not-bad options for you. And once again, here’s the link.
