McConnell’s Irish Whisky (most Irish brands include the “e” in whiskey, but these cats don’t) was either founded in 1776 or 2020, depending on how you look at it. The throwback bottle certainly looks like the original, which hasn’t been seen since the brand went under in 1958. Does the new (sourced) whiskey in the bottle bear any resemblance to old-school McConnell’s? Who knows?

So why should you drink it? I’ll tell you why: it tastes good. And for more details about that and other aspects of this oldie-but-newie, check out my latest at Alcohol Professor. It’s got a cocktail recipe and everything!
