And Now A Word From Our Sponsors: Luxardo, Martell, & Clase Azul
It’s been a ridiculously long time since I updated this site, but it’s not like I haven’t been working. I have a nice little backlog of stuff to post, starting with these three pieces of sponsored content, also known as the freelance writer’s friend. As I’ve no doubt mentioned before, spon-con pays better than editorial writing, plus it’s always kind of fun to be the mouthpiece for a brand instead of the spouter of my own opinions. It’s a little more fraught when it comes to VinePair, since they put bylines on the spon-con. Fortunately, they haven’t had me write any articles about brands I dislike. I mean, what’s not to like about Luxardo Espresso Liqueur? Sure, the espresso martini craze is totally played out, but that doesn’t mean I don’t still like to drink ‘em every now and then. Plus the article is about uses for the liqueur besides espresso martinis. And what would those uses be? You’ll just have to read the article and find out!
As for the other two pieces, written for Robb Report… they don’t sport my name but I’m claiming authorship. The one for Martell Cognac was a blast to write because it’s something I actually wish I could drink — alas, samples are generally not made available for spon-con. But it’s… well, just read for yourself. And Clase Azul Tequila gets almost as many knocks from serious tequila buffs as it gets praise from more casual connoisseurs. Me, I’ve only had the opportunity to taste it once or twice, and I honestly don’t remember my impressions. But hey, in this article I wrote not about the tequila but the swanky decanters that hold it, and who doesn’t dig Clase Azul’s packaging?
