Grain-To-Glass: You'll NEVER Guess What It Means (Sorry, Just Trying To Make Some Clickbait)

Seriously, these whiskeys are terrific, no matter what they’re called. (Photo courtesy Heaven Hill)

My latest Whiskeys Of The Week are the Grain To Glass series (two bourbons and a rye) from the folks at Heaven Hill. “Grain-to-glass” is a phrase that’s been popping up a lot nowadays, both from cool indie distilleries and big brands, but what does it mean? Is it like farm-to-table but for booze? Actually, it kind of is. Of course, the meaning is subjective and a little nebulous, as you’ll read in my review over at Forbes (the link for which is -> HERE <-). But you’ll get a good idea of what it means, both from my vantage point and from Heaven Hill’s. And you’ll read about three of the niftiest bottles I’ve had the chance to crack this year.

And once you’ve read my writeup, I’ll bet you’re so curious about grain-to-glass whiskeys that you’ll want to read about other distilleries doing the same thing. But where to look? I’ve got you covered! My piece for Whisky Advocate from a couple of years ago tackles the subject in the context of rye whiskey, and in more detail. Link is -> HERE <-.
