Whiskeys Of The Week(s) From Kentucky (and India! And Indiana! And Scotland! And Kentucky Again!)

A delicious whiskey… and some very tasty fruit as well. (Photo courtesy Bardstown Bourbon Co.)

I’m back on my catching-up-on-linking-to-articles game, so here’s a little round-up of THREE Whisk(e)y Of The Week articles, courtesy of the good folks at Forbes. All of them are available now, though whiskey being what it is, they may not all be easy to find. Don’t hate the messenger!

First up is the newbie from Bardstown Bourbon Co., the creative, inventive, slilghtly off-the-wall Kentucky-based brand that does a little bit of everything — distilling, sourcing, contract distilling, blending, cask-finishing, you name it. This one is noteworthy because it’s a rare example of a blended American whiskey (Kentucky bourbon and Indiana rye, to be precise) finished in Indian whisky casks. It’s also noteworthy because it’s one of the most delicious and distinctive whiskeys I’ve had all year. Read all about it -> HERE <-.

Next up — from the rocky shores of Islay comes a nifty (and sadly limited edition) single malt from the Ardbeg distillery. Ever wonder what one of their signature peaty, barbecue-and-ashes whiskies would taste like with a sweet, fruity port cask influence? Wonder no more! Ardbeg Spectacular is here! For a little while, at least. Get the scoop -> HERE <-.

And last but not least — I mean how could a 15 year old bourbon from Wild Turkey be least in any list? The latest from Russell’s Reserve is, in a word, frickin’ amazing. And yeah, I know that’s two words, I couldn’t limit myself to just one. One of the best things I’ve put in my mouth in 2024 (I will not be giving you a complete list of what went in there, not to worry). Read about it, hunt it down, pay too much money for it (most likely). Link is -> HERE <-.
