How Do You Pronounce Nc'nean?

An environmentally sustainable organic Scotch single malt that will probably trigger haters of all things “woke” — another reason to buy it, if you ask me. (Photo courtesy Nc’nean)

The other day, a publicist asked me how I choose whiskies (or whiskeys) for my Whisk(e)y Of The Week column at Forbes. And I must confess I’d never really thought about it before. Quite often there’s something pretty exciting coming out from a distillery I like that I want to write about. Other times I get pitched something with an odd enough angle — usually the angle is extreme rarity and/or age and/or price — that the piece all but writes itself. And then there are weeks like last week, where I was way overdue for a new W of the W (it had been a month or so since the last one) and I resorted to rummaging around the massive pile of bottles in my apartment, looking for something interesting to check out. I’d actually had one in mind to write up, but having tasted it, it just wasn’t up to snuff.

All of which is to say I hadn’t expected to write up an organic single malt from an eight-year-old distillery in the western Highlands of Scotland. But dammit, Nc’nean’s Huntress: Orchard Cobbler is delicious, and that’s good enough for me. If you promise to read my writeup, I’ll even tell you how Nc’nean is pronounced! You promise? OK, good. It’s in the subhead of the article. What, you thought I was going to tell you here? Click the darn link! Which is right -> HERE <-.
