If you’re a booze novice and you want to find out more about, say, rye whiskey, what do you do? Why you head to the World Wide Interwebs and Google, “What is rye whiskey.” And it turns out that a LOT of people are not experts in the field of spirits and search for info in exactly that manner. Which is why it behooves publications to run articles with names like, “What Is Rye Whiskey?” They’re search engine-friendly and, given that the rules governing spirits are generally pretty static, they don’t need to be updated very often. Which is why InsideHook asked me to write What Exactly Is Rye Whiskey? for them. A lot of writers don’t like writing “Booze 101”-type articles, and a lot of editors roll their eyes at having to publish them. But I’ll tell you, I enjoy this sort of thing. I hope you enjoy reading it, whether or not you’re a rye whiskey expert.

And while I’ve got you… have a look-see at my latest Whisk(e)y Of The Week for the fine folks at ForbesLife. I’ve written two pieces about Indian whisky in my short tenure there, and they’re by far the two most-read. Which probably means I should be writing more about Indian whisky. The whisky I wrote up, Kurinji, has an interesting backstory whether or not you know or care about whiskies from India. Although you should care, because they’ve got some great ones. Anyway, here’s -> the link <- !
