And Now A Word From Our Sponsors: Cynar, Rare Hare & Copalli
Pontificating about stuff from the editorial side of things is always fun, but writing sponsored content is a tasty side dish. Saying nice things about a brand, at the brand’s behest, can be fun and challenging… and more lucrative than writing editorial, which is why it’s a plum gig that most of my fellow freelancers are happy to accept when it comes along.
Herein you’ll find the links to two of my latest pieces of sponsored content. First up is Cynar, whose praises I sang for Vinepair (link is -> HERE <-). I’ve loved this oddball artichoke amaro for years, and since I don’t write a whole lot about the category editorially, I was happy to have the opportunity to sing its praises in print again. Worth a read, if I do say so myself, especially if you’re not familiar with the brand.
I didn’t have the opportunity to taste Rare Hare Lapine, the latest release from Rare Hare Spirits (co-founded by Playboy’s parent company, hence the name). But it was a chance to tell a fun story about a very cool sounding 60 year old cognac. And while I can’t vouch for it personally, I highly doubt it sucks. I wrote it up for the good folks at Robb Report; the link is -> HERE <-.
Last up is a pleasant surprise. With very, very few exceptions, I’m not a fan of flavored rums. But I am a fan of Copalli Rum, so when I had to write up their cacao-flavored expression for Vices, I gave it a try with an open mind and hoped for the best. And it exceeded my wildest expectations. The secret, I guess, is that it’s flavored with actual cacao nibs that are infused into the rum, both of which come from the edge of the Belizean rainforest. . And it doesn’t hurt that the base spirit is pretty delicious as well. Read all about it -> HERE <-. I enjoyed it so much, in fact, that I wrote it up editorially as well, including it in my Robb Report round-up of the best white rums (if you haven’t read that yet, link is -> HERE <-).
