Lagavulin's Offerman Edition: Goofy Idea, Brilliant Whisky

The first bottle that Liquor.com asked me to review for their coming-soon-I-swear Bottle Reviews section was Lagavulin’s 11 year old “Offerman Edition” bottling. Alas, by the time the review was published, there had been a second, quite different Offerman Edition released. But hey, the first one is the better one, in my opinion, so you should still read my review (the link being -> HERE <-), and pick up a bottle while you still can.

I am one of the four Americans who have never watched Parks & Recreation, so when this whisky was first released, I was confused. Who is this Nick Offerman fellow and why does he get to create a new Lagavulin expression? Lagavulin isn’t like its fellow Islay distillery Laphroaig, which seems to put out a new expression every other Tuesday. This is a certifiably big deal. And they’re giving it to this Offerman guy?

Needless to say, I did my homework, figured it out, and I no longer hold a grudge. How can I, when his whisky tastes so damn good? I still haven’t watched Parks & Recreation, though.
